MR. MARK MATSON

Mark is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and has a wealth of experience and knowledge in the financial and business world. Mark graduated from McMaster University and started his career in public accounting in the early 1980s, receiving his Chartered Accountant designation in 1985. Mark has been Partner for 17 years at a National CPA Firm in Burlington where he has worked since 1999.

In terms of specific experience with the Mutual insurance industry, Mark was a member of one of Nova’s legacy companies’ Board of Directors since 2015 and has been a member of Nova Mutual’s board since its inception in 2019. He has chaired the Audit Committee during most of his time with the legacy company as well as with Nova Mutual.

As a Board member, Mark prides himself as being very much a team player and consensus builder and a supporter of Nova’s mission and values. Mark believes he has strong communication skills and is more than willing to speak up when needed. He is open-minded and tries to take all opinions into account and work towards mutually agreeable conclusions and decisions.

Mark is also quite active in the community and has been a Board member for a number of community and charitable organizations over the years. He is currently serving as Board President & Treasurer on the Hamilton District Society for Disabled Children Board.

Mark and his wife Kathy reside in Hamilton, and they love to travel when they are able. He has two wonderful daughters, sons-in-law, and three amazing grandkids that he enjoys spending time with as much as possible. Mark also enjoys being active and enjoys activities such as biking, hiking, and curling. He is an avid sports fan and is a long-time season ticket holder for the Hamilton Ticats.
